The Hen House

Here is a look at our colorful hens. Most of them are around 8 months old.

We have silkies, brown leghorn’s, easter egger’s, and buff orpington’s. I was happy to read that the silkies are hardy in the winter so we could add them to our hen house.  They are also supposed to be sweet, tame and motherly. I believe one for sure has turned broody.

We feed them a mix of layer pellets and some corn.

We recently added oyster shells to their diet for added calcium and to improve the thickness of the egg shells. I like to give them fresh water twice a day also. Need to keep them happy!

My chickens also love the Happy Hen Treats from time to time. If you need to get them back into the hen house these will come in handy.
